From Classroom to Stage: Multimedia Theatre in the Top 100

The project “Multimedia Theatre” by the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Contemporary Childhood (MSUPE) was included in the TOP-100 finalists of the Strong Ideas for a New Time forum, organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and Roscongress. The forum’s aim is to consolidate 100 strong ideas that can help reboot the economy and social sphere, as well as to bring together teams ready to implement their projects and scale practices that can ensure sustainable development of Russia under new economic conditions.
The project, developed by the research group of the Center under the leadership of O.V. Rubtsova, was selected from more than 19,500 applications and presented during the idea pitching session within the “National Social Initiative” track. Empirical results of the Multimedia Theatre project confirmed positive dynamics in the development of metadisciplinary learning outcomes, as well as indicators of personal growth and psychological well-being among adolescents involved in specially organized theatre activities.
During the project implementation with 6th–8th grade students from schools in Moscow and the Moscow region, researchers observed: reduced risks of bullying, intergroup and intrapersonal conflicts; improved communication and organizational skills; development of emotional intelligence, reflection, self-regulation, and more.

The uniqueness of the proposed model of adolescent theatre lies in its applicability across humanities subjects—both in supplementary and core education (history, literature, psychology, foreign languages).
Projects from the TOP-lists will receive acceleration support and will be implemented with the help of partner organizations of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation at both regional and federal levels.
