School Theatre: Project Launch 2024

At Secondary School No. 4, the federal project “Developing a Technology for Overcoming the Risks of Adolescence: School Theatre Based on Role Experimentation”, implemented under the auspices of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Contemporary Childhood (MSUPE), has been launched.
Project goal: to create a model of experimental and research activity based on role experimentation as a technology for overcoming the risks of adolescence.
Following the results of the project jointly implemented by Moscow State University of Psychology & Education and the school in 2023, it was decided not only to continue cooperation but also to significantly expand the project’s scope — from two to five classes. This decision was based on the positive changes observed among adolescents who had participated in the 2023 project: a decrease in interpersonal conflicts, improved communication between parallel classes, shifts in life orientations, the development of a value-based attitude toward oneself and others, and a change in focus from individual achievements to striving for results in group and collective activities.
In 2024, the project will operate across parallel grades. For 7th graders, a cycle of activities is planned, including training exercises, work with literary sources, and an animation course. The 8th graders will work with historical sources, conduct interviews, participate in training sessions, and study video editing. And this is only part of the activities awaiting the students, as the project also brings the joy of communication, acceptance, new acquaintances, and new knowledge.
The thematic focus of project activities will also differ: 7th graders will explore and analyze issues relevant to adolescence, while 8th graders will study the impact of the Great Patriotic War on the lives of combatants, home front workers, and wartime children.
The final product for 7th graders will be a playful, imaginative performance based on the interpretation of a literary text, highlighting aspects of everyday life significant for adolescents. The 8th graders, in turn, will present a documentary-style performance based on real events and facts from the wartime period.
